Photographs of forgotten sanctuaries
Across Europe and beyond, churches that held centuries of prayer now stand open to the wind. Roofs fall in, frescoes flake from the walls, and saints look out over rubble. These photographs record what remains before it is gone.
Martin Toumbev, Photographer
My aim is to document, preserve and share the beauty and timeless grandeur of bygone churches and cathedrals around the world.
Through the pictures and stories of what has been lost, I hope to remind us of a connection to the Higher Realm that we have drifted from, and of what can be found once more.
